Texas writers: GREAT conference to attend

Jun 6, 2014Write!

I’m excited to be keynoting for the Roaring Lambs Writers Conference on July 19th. It’s chock full of amazing information and terrific speakers. If you live anywhere near Dallas, this conference is comprehensive AND a bargain. Make plans to attend. Click here to register. Cost is $79 and it includes lunch. Yay!

Jesus, I surrender apathy to you. I confess that I Jesus, I surrender apathy to you. I confess that I have often deadened my heart because it just seems easier that way. I’m tired of hurting. Tired of trying. Tired of failure. So I default to apathy because if I do that, I won’t be disappointed. But, Lord, that’s not a brave or faith-filled way to live. You require holy action in our lives. You want us to continue to stretch and grow, but we cannot do that if we sit idly by and let the world win its battles. Give me my fight back, Jesus. Forgive me for inaction. Instead, I choose to trust you for my next steps away from apathy and toward building your kingdom. Amen.
In my weekly email, I insert people’s names into In my weekly email, I insert people’s names into my prayers for them. It amazes me when I get my own copy, and the prayer is hauntingly appropriate for me.

That’s the mystery and beauty of the Holy Spirit’s ways, isn’t it?

Raise your hand if you need this prayer too.
For those who live local to #rockwall @downtownroc For those who live local to #rockwall @downtownrockwall I just restocked my @littlefreelibrary with a bunch of my books and a leader kit for my @lifewaywomen into the Light study about healing from past trauma.

Stop by and get free books, and feel free to recycle some of yours.

Of course, there are lots of different books in there, of all genres. Enjoy!
Jesus, I surrender growing older to you. It’s in Jesus, I surrender growing older to you. It’s inevitable. Every day I’m older, but this world prefers youthfulness and vigor, so I feel unseen and a bit panicked. Free me from the world’s idea of worth. Instead, help me to use my own fear about growing older as a way to be empathetic toward others. Help me dignify and really see other people who are older than me. Help me ask advice, listen well, and learn from them. My hope and prayer is that every year of my life I am growing closer and closer to you. Grow me deeper, Jesus. Teach me humility, patience, kindness, faithfulness, and joyful living. Instead of viewing life through the lens of what I don’t have, help me practice gratitude for all you’ve given me every single day. Amen.
Jesus, I surrender my internal bully to you. That Jesus, I surrender my internal bully to you. That bully is loud and fierce, and I often believe what it says. Replace those internal scripts of personal defamation with your kindhearted encouragement. Help me unlearn those sentences of shame and replace them with your declarations of truth. Renew my mind. Remake my thoughts so they represent the gentle sweetness of the Holy Spirit within me. Forgive me for believing such awful things about myself. Help me to treat myself as I would treat a very close friend. Help me remember you love me just as much as you love my loved ones. Amen.
Walking through a battle? It’s a joy to pray for Walking through a battle? It’s a joy to pray for you every day! May this prayer sink into your soul.
