I’m so thankful you stopped by to check out my blog and site. Feel free to poke around awhile. I’m here because of you–your needs, your hopes, your curiosities. Which is why I love blogging so much. Typically I talk about thriving after pain, writing (which is also thriving after pain!), growing in your relationship with Jesus, the perils (and joys) of ministry, and, of course, family.
I’m a writer and speaker who took a long path to publication. Ten years spent in obscurity. Years and miles of unpublished words. I‘m the poster child for Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers, where he shares the secret of “genius.” (Here’s the unglamorous truth: Genius comes from 10,000 hours of practice.) So I wrote my 10,000 hours, then started finding success in small venues–regional magazines, a local paper, then national magazines.
Twelve years after I started, an agent signed me, and I sold two books. I’ve currently published fourteen books with various publishers. I spent two and a half years church planting in France. And now my family and I are stateside as I continue my writing, speaking and mentoring ministry.

Important fact: I love my family. Here’s a recent picture of my three children. We had the privilege of hanging out at the beach for a week. With one in college, we cherish each and every moment with our kids. Besides, aren’t they amazing? (Yep, our son is six foot four inches tall).
I’m also happily married to Patrick, nearly two decades now. Here we are on vacation in Switzerland during the time we church planted in France. (If you’d like to explore our time there, simply read this blog from 2004 until the end of 2006. You’ll get the picture.)

MaryDeMuth.com uses WordPress with a variation of WooThemes Daily Edition. Thomas Umstattd of Author Media created all the fireworks and amazing feats behind the WordPress scenes. And 99 Designs designed the birdcage graphic. I created most everything else. Because I like interacting with you, I use Disqus for my commenting platform.
99% of the photos are mine, meaning I took them. If not, then my amazing daughter Sophie snapped them.
I write a lot. I’ve been at this blogging gig over 9 years now. So I can’t always get things right, though I strive for accuracy. In other words, I won’t be held liable for content that misses the mark. You have my promise that I’ll be honest and forthright, but I also hope for your grace if I get something wrong. Thanks!
