18 As[a] he was walking by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).[b] 19 He said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people!”[c] 20 They[d] left their nets immediately and followed him.[e] 21 Going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and his brother John, in a boat[f] with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. Then[g] he called them. 22 They[h] immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.
Jesus’ Healing Ministry
23 Jesus[i] went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,[j] preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness[k] among the people. 24 So a report about him spread throughout Syria. People[l] brought to him all who suffered with various illnesses and afflictions, those who had seizures,[m] paralytics, and those possessed by demons,[n] and he healed them. 25 And large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis,[o] Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan River.[p]
