Jesus, I surrender my sin to you. Please forgive me for not taking it seriously. Help me internalize what my selfishness and pride has cost you. Thank you for going to the cross in order to pay for my sin once and for all. Help me understand that when I come to you with my confession, you have forgiven me. I don’t want to live in self-condemnation anymore. And Lord, I once again give you that sin I keep struggling with. I confess that I cannot tackle this on my own, in my strength. Rescue me from the power of sin, and help me rest in your forgiveness today. Amen.

Jesus, I surrender my family to you. There are complicated relationships represented there and sweet, connected ones, too. But Lord I need to know how to love each person in a way that dignifies them, yet protects me from unwanted trauma. Teach me how to create boundaries while still being open to possible reconciliation, if that’s possible. I know there are some relationships that might not reconcile, and it’s hard for me to live in that tension. Would you fill me up where I’m starving for familial love? Would you help me weather disagreements with grace? Help me run to you in the midst of my own familial turmoil, I pray. Amen.

Jesus, I surrender the world’s wisdom to you. Forgive me for chasing after it, believing it to be the pathway to success and popularity. Your word reminds me to transform my mind through your word. Help me be so immersed in your word that I can easily recognize the siren call of the world. Renew my mind. Forgive me for capitulating to the world’s wisdom just so I won’t be persecuted or called out. Give me boldness for the things of you, and empower me to follow you no matter how unpopular your way may be. I love you more than the world’s way of doing things! Amen.

Jesus, I surrender the world’s math to you. The world’s way of doing things has permeated the way I think and act, and I long to be set free. Replace my hoarding with generosity, my jealousy with cheerleading others, my personal empire building with building your kingdom. The ladder of success is actually a pitfall to joy. Instead, you’ve reminded me that serving others is the gateway to satisfaction. Instead of pursuing strategies and wealth and gurus, help me pursue you, your counterintuitive ways. Open doors that seem impossible, for your glory and renown. Amen.
