The strangest coincidence

So the kids and I saw Evan Almighty today. We walked outside to cloudiness (not uncommon during this strange low pressure system over Texas).

Once inside the van, fat drops started falling. Then torrenting. Then beating the windshield with a fierceness I haven’t seen in a long time. In fact, I’ve never had to drive through something like that.

We slowed to a crawl. Water everywhere. Flooded streets. Five miles an hour. We said a few prayers. I gripped the steering wheel, praying we wouldn’t hydroplane. We didn’t.

Eventually, we made it home. But what a strange coincidence indeed: watch a flood movie, then drive through one.
