That Long, Long Psalm, oh how it blessed!

A few days ago, I wrote about a gal from Korea who encouraged me with simple, wonderful words. She told me God reminded her to pray for me while she was reading Psalm 119. So, I spent time on our back patio on Sunday morning before the family was awake, reading that long, wonderful Psalm again. Here are the nuggets I mined:

vs. 37: “Turn away my eyes from looking at vanity, and revive me in Your ways.”

I have struggled in America to eradicate my consumeristic mindset. It’s not easy, folks. Stuff is everywhere. And I look at it. Oh dear Jesus, turn my eyes away. Help me to initiate the turning. Revive my perspective, according to Your path, not mine, not the world’s.

vs. 54: “Your statutes are my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.”

I love that God is a Poet. Help me to sing Your ways, O Lord, as I live as a pilgrim on this earth.

vs. 74: “May those who fear You see me and be glad because I wait for Your word.”

I want others to see Your beauty in me. I want to wait patiently for Your words to me, as well as steep myself in Your Word. May it be that I make others who believe glad.
