“Mommy, why did you read my name in the book?”
“I didn’t read your name.”
“Yes, you did,” Julia said.
We were reading one of the American Girl books about Kit’s Birthday. I puzzled over Julia’s words. When did I read her name? Then it occurred to me.
“No, Julia, I didn’t read your name, I read the name of a play called Julius Ceasar.”
“Let me see that,” she said. “Oh.”
I smiled as I thought of her Julia-centric world, how her sweet mind morphed Julius Ceasar into Julia Ceasar!
