I received grace after I’d made a mistake on an I received grace after I’d made a mistake on an email, something that had not been given to me in the months prior. Make a mistake, then be shamed. The pattern made me skittish and jumpy.

But the gracious response honestly brought me such relief and peace. Why? Because none of us is perfect. We make mistakes. And when someone is lighthearted toward us in those mistakes, it sets us free.

In contrast, like me, you’ve probably experienced the opposite. You make a mistake, and instantly you’re met with criticism and a talking’ to. Or someone assigns ill motives to you without even asking what’s going on in your heart.

Grace shocks us—in a good way. It disrupts. It causes joyful do-overs.

Its opposite binds us to panic and leadens our resolve.

In light of that, e-mail grace reminds me to be more lighthearted with others, to catch myself when I’m tempted to jump to negative conclusions, to remember that we all make mistakes, and grace brings transformation rather than condemnation.

I thought you might want to take a quick tour of m I thought you might want to take a quick tour of my office. I forgot to mention the large black and white print is my family!

This is the global headquarters (lol) of Mary DeMuth Literary and Mary E. DeMuth Inc. I sent in my 50th book from this office, and it’s where I’ve written most of my books.

I love having a peaceful, yet colorful space to create in.

Do you have a “global headquarters”? :)

Working out has kept me sane. I’m so sad my Camp Working out has kept me sane. I’m so sad my Camp Gladiator season is coming to an end. I’m praying about what is next. But I’ve learned I really like working out with friends!

How do you deal with stress?
The Lord responded to Jeremiah’s lament with the The Lord responded to Jeremiah’s lament with these words. They struck me today.

We ARE to be influencers—but for the right kingdom. To influence for good. For teaching the beautiful, paradoxical ways of God. To infuse the darkness with winsome, invitational light.

But I fear that, in my scrolling, I’m letting the siren call of the world influence my thinking and behavior.

The remedy is to so immerse myself in the words, story, and way of God so that I can discern when I’m being wooed and lured and discipled by the world.

That’s why I’m passionate about immersing myself in the Bible. That’s why I wrote the 90 Day Bible Reading Challenge. That’s why I value the Word of God over mindless scrolling.

I want to be far more formed by the Bible than I’m shaped by the fickle opinions of culture.
Friend, today is the day the 90 Day Bible Reading Friend, today is the day the 90 Day Bible Reading Challenge: Read the Whole Bible, Change Your Whole Life RELEASES!

I'm actually quite giddy when I think about how this book will help you truly grasp the whole story of Scripture.

This practice of rapid reading the Bible has utterly changed my life. It's the practice that's done more transformation in me than any other spiritual practice. I want that for you, too.

I know it's intimidating, but it really only takes an hour a day (which you may end up having if you put your phone down--at least that's what I found to be true in my own doom-scrolling life).

Plus you can simply listen to the Word of God every day. Or you can take it slower, reading it in 6 months rather than three.

But you'll gain so much--a greater understanding of the nature and character of God, particularly his relentless giving of second chances. You'll grasp the story of God's desire for human flourishing, and our part in building the kingdom now. You'll see hyperlinks you've never found between old and new testaments. You'll contextualize the Bible. Stories will come alive like they never have before.

I wish this for you. I pray this for you. I long for this for you.

If you'd like to start the new year with this plan, you can go to marydemuth.com/bible and sign up. I'll be taking a group of folks through it.

So today is launch day! Would you pray the the Lord would get this book into the hands of hungry souls who need it? And would you pray the that Lord starts a revolution of Word-loving saints in the beautiful aftermath?
