Julia sat with me in the car while the others went to the grocery store. I asked her about her friends.

And then I asked about boys.

“I think Theo is cute,” she said, “but Florian is my boyfriend.”

“Really? Why?”

“Because I chased him and tried to kiss him.”

“Please don’t kiss boys. You’re too young. Even Sophie’s too young.”

Julia smiled. “If I was Sophie’s age, I’d kiss every boy for sure.”

I said a little prayer for my little boy-lover!

Later in the car, she talked about boys with John and Donna. “Who do you want to marry?” John asked.

“I will never tell you,” she said.

“Ah, come on,” he said.

“No way! You’ll have to wait until heaven! Then you’ll know!”

So I guess we’ll all have to wait to find out who the lucky boy is. I can wait, though. A long, long time.
