We had a brief discussion today at Field Orientation around the word homeless. Someone promoted the word houseless instead. She said that everyone makes a home somewhere but that some people just don’t have houses.

So true.

And now in the horrid wake of Katrina, there are thousands and thousands and thousands of houseless folks making homes in domes and emergency shelters. Perhaps our prayer should be that God would give them the grace to create home no matter where it may be, that the houseless would find homes where four walls are really the people in families.
