Go Ahead, Creep your kids out! (Kiss your spouse)

Hubby and I love to creep out our kids. Why? Because I believe the best gift you can give your kids is a strong, happy, affectionate marriage. So we kiss each other. In the kitchen, during dinner, whenever the desire hits, when my hubby comes home from work.

We’re met with cries from our kids like, “Oh, my eyes, my eyes!” Or a hand across their eyes and a “Tell me when you’re done.” Or “I’m scarred for life.”

I don’t care.

I’d rather creep out my kids, showing them the beauty of marital love than portray marriage as staid, usual, ordinary. I want them to see affection modeled as normative. And I want them to know, on a subconscious level, that we are in this marriage for the long haul. We’re not merely staying in it for their sake. We chose each other first, and when they leave the nest, we will choose each other again.

And affection is a part of that.

This post is part of Idea Camp’s #ICSEX Family Week. I’m thankful to be a part of their honest community.

Q4U: How do you bother your kids?
