Circus Rant

I’m hopping mad. There are days like this that I want to yell or holler!

We have the circus in town again. We used to think it a novelty to have the circus in the parking lot in front of our house. We’ve dealt with spitting llamas, various excrements made by lions, camels, horses. But, to be honest, I’m pretty dang tired of it all.

Last night I couldn’t sleep. The circus dogs barked and barked and barked. We could hear them clearly from our window.

And then we discovered that the circus PLUGGED THEMSELVES IN (without even asking) to our power, happily using our electricity for free. AND, to call the electric company to complain, we were CHARGED for the phone call. They assured us the circus was not allowed to take our power, but that we’d probably be responsible for paying for their electricity. Thankfully, the electricity folks are coming here sometime today to argue with the circus. Should be interesting.

My life here in France is utterly different than in the USA. I never had circus folk connect to my electricity in Dallas! Never had horses in my parking lot. Never had hours of LOUD microphoned circus folk playing bad 80’s music while lions roared and tigers jumped.

I never expected my cross-cultural transition to include this.
