Thomas Merton wrote, “To allow oneself to be carried away by a multitude of conflicting concerns, to surrender to too many demands, to commit oneself to too many projects, to want to help everyone in everything, is to succumb to violence.”

I think Thomas had a special view into today’s world when he prophetically penned those words. Would you agree?

Oh how we need to say the divine NO when demands knock at our door. The truth? We are not God. We do not hold the universe together (thankfully). When did it become all about us and our ability to juggle 15 things at once? And how exactly is that serving the Kingdom? Hear me today: It’s time to rest. To slow down. To enjoy Jesus.
