41 – Suffering Does Not = Failure

Feb 2, 2015Uncaged Podcast

I’m excited to share this week’s episode of the Uncaged Podcast. Let’s start with three truths you need to remember:

Suffering does not = Failure

Persecution does not = God’s disappointment

Suffering + Courage = Pleasing God

 Scriptures:

1 Thessalonians 2:1-4: You yourselves know, dear brothers and sisters, that our visit to you was not a failure. You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition. So you can see we were not preaching with any deceit or impure motives or trickery. For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.

1 Cor. 2:1-5 (ASV) – And I, brethren, when I came unto you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

2 Cor. 4:1-5 (ASV) – Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we faint not: but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation (display) of the truth (by declaring it, modeling it, truthing it) commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your (bond) servants for Jesus’ sake.
