18 – The Beautiful Difficult Power of Truth Telling

Jul 28, 2014Uncaged Podcast

I had a product on this site where I shared the healing journey, how God heals your broken heart. Instead of selling it, I am going to give it to you for free in six installments. This is installment number three. Hooray!

The Gist:

We cannot heal in untruth. We cannot heal telling ourselves lies. Healing comes on the heels of daring to tell the truth about the past.

Scripture:

Ephesians 4:15: Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Quotes

“If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.” George Bernard Shaw

“Risk being unliked. Tell the truth as you understand it. If you’re a writer, you have a moral obligation to do this. And it is a revolutionary act—truth is always subversive.”
— Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life
