In this episode, I tell the story of meeting a big ministry leader and feeling quite small and overlooked. I’ll chat about how we can work through that awkward feeling by embracing three B words.

Begin with God’s bigness (astonishment)

• Isaiah 55:8-9, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
• For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
• Hebrews 12:28-29 28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. 29 For our God is a devouring fire.

Believe they are small (giants)

• a. Galatians 1:10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
• John 2:23-25 23 Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him. But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew human nature. No one needed to tell him what mankind is really like.
• “Our task shouldn’t be punishing the villains in our lives, but enlarging the God who heals us from all wounds.”
• Become dispassionate
• Subordinate other relationships beneath Jesus

Befriend Resilience

• Befriend resilience Jeremiah 29:11 isn’t about escaping our lot. Hannaiah the Seer prophesied victory where there was none. They wouldn’t be released. They would live in exile for a longer time. Sometimes God acts counterintuitively to what we think as a blessing.
• 2 Corinthians 1:8-10 For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us
• John 16:33 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
