008 – Dan King

Mar 21, 2016Restory Show

Today I welcome Dan King (AKA Bible Dude, AKA the fistbump guy) with us on today’s Restory Show. He’s a business owner, a family man, and a passionate advocate for people around the world.

How Our Stories Intersected

I first met Dan a few years ago when I traveled to Haiti with Help One Now. I learned he had a huge, gigantic heart for the hurting as we walked the streets and byways of Haiti. I didn’t realize then that he was walking through his own struggles with vocation. And as my husband and I face this very same thing right now, I’m finding his story even more inspirational. I think you will too.

About Dan’s Story

Dan worked for a major telecom company for many years, had a steady paycheck, and enjoyed the perks of that job. One day, out of the blue, he was let go. Thus began a long journey of trying to discern God’s voice as he sought a new job to provide for his family. God answered, but not in the way you’d expect. And in the midst of that journey, another surprise came along.

In His Own Words

“I’m a family guy. I like to be home for my family.”

“How am I going to buy groceries for my family next week?”

“We had a lot of tears and a lot of fears in that moment of not knowing.”

“I prayed like it was all on God, but I worked like it was all on me.”

“He’s the God of Just On Time. Can’t He be the God of big, fat comfortable check?”

Restory Recap

As in all my episodes, I pray for you at the end. It’s my sincere hope that you’ll walk away from the Restory Show changed and challenged.

{Aside: Dan has a huge heart for people: his family, the poor, the downtrodden. You’ll hear it in his voice.}

    Thank you SO much for having me on the show, Mary! It’s really strange listening to myself in this, but you sound amazing! Ha! I’m glad that this conversation blessed you, especially during your current trials, and I pray it blesses others too. #fistbump

      You sound awesome, Dan. And it’s hard for me to hear my own voice too. Thank you for sharing your story.
