006 – Christy Tennant Krispin

Mar 7, 2016Restory Show

I’m grateful to have my friend Christy Tennant Krispin with us on today’s Restory Show.

How Our Stories Intersected

I first met Christy at a pre-conference conference in Texas in preparation for Cape Town 2010. We immediately hit it off, then cemented our friendship in Cape Town. What an amazing, beautiful place (and an impacting conference) to make a lifelong friend!

About Christy’s Story

Christy is amazing! She’s an actress, writer, and artist (among other things) with a passion for missions. She shares her story of a first love gone awry, followed a long waiting period until she met her husband. They now live in the Pacific Northwest and have a passion to work within the foster care system.

In Her Own Words

“I had a youthful expectation of how God speaks.”

“I never grew bitter at God through it. I was angry, but not bitter.”

“What do you want to see when you look back on this [difficult situation]?”

“I don’t want to be a fair-weather follower of Christ.”

Restory Recap

  • Christy learned about prayer as she worked through her breakup. And she learned to forgive and move on. You can too.
  • Arts have a beautiful role to play in the body of Christ.
  • Christy told herself she envisioned herself as a foster parent. Her husband’s words: “I love it.” So they fostered several children, and ended up adopted some children after they’d been married two years.
  • God has restored her sense of mystery and wonder of God. He’s not easy to understand.

[Tweet “‘I don’t want to be a fair weather Christian.’ @ChristyKrispin. Hear more at the Restory Show.”]

As in all my episodes, I pray for you at the end. It’s my sincere hope that you’ll walk away from the Restory Show changed and challenged.

{Aside: Christy has small children, so you may hear a few of their sweet interactions.}

This was another great restory podcast! Christy’s experience isn’t unlike that of most Christians I suppose…we think we absolutely know without a doubt where God is leading, and then he takes us down a completely different road! But all of this, as we know, is to get us ‘fixed on Him’ and not on us, or even where He is taking us. He uses all life’s experiences to help us look more like Him, to be able to hear His voice better, and follow Him, to be obedient.
I love how Christy talks about having an ‘open hand’ with everything. It is the only way to live. To say, whatever you will God, whatever YOU will…and then watch what God will do in our lives!
    He is always faithful!
    Thanks for this Mary!

I love her open-handed theology too. It’s beautiful.
