0017 – Andy Traub

Andy Traub is an entrepreneur, a former Young Life leader, a husband and a father who lives in Tennessee.

How Our Stories Intersected

Andy and I met online as he helped me create my first podcast (the uncaged podcast). We met in person with his dear, dear family when I was last in Tennessee.

Here they are:

About Andy’s Story

In His Own Words

“All the pretense and plans were stripped away. You find out who your real friends are. God is always there to catch you.”

“I am a wandering generality, and I’m okay with that.”

“Maybe it didn’t end well for the disciples because that wasn’t the end.”

“It’s amazing how we make God American.”

“No one yells at you for trying to live an American story.”

“One of the worst things I’ve dealt with is success because it makes me lazy.”

“Why do we listen to the soundtrack of fear? As a Christian, I let fear be my soundtrack.”

“When you really love someone, you’re not afraid.”

“The goal is not to get back to that (who you were in the past), it’s to move to somewhere else, to change.”

Restory Recap

  • He broke off his first wedding a month before the wedding day.
  • He quit his job, lived with his mentors in their basement, and worked at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
  • He moved to Sioux Falls, SD working for Young Life.
  • He met his (future) wife the second day he was there.
  • They lived in Sioux Falls for ten years.
  • They moved to the Nashville area two years ago.
  • It’s been a time of transition for them. And God has helped them.

As in all my episodes, I pray for you at the end. It’s my sincere hope that you’ll walk away from the Restory Show changed and challenged.

{Aside: I pray this episode speaks to those of you in transition.}
