Yes, it matters. The Lord allows and even brings things to “humble you and test you, to do you good in the end.” Deut. 8:16 Suffering is better than sailing along in smooth waters if that’s what’s needed to shape us for His purposes.
Great quote! I love that our suffering is never in vain. God uses ever little bit of it for good (Romans 8:28) and doesn’t withhold any good (Psalm 84:11) from us, though our circumstances at times don’t appear good. One of my favorite Bible passages to think on when I am suffering is Psalm 34:17-19, ”The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.”
I love that our suffering has a definite beginning and end point. And through our suffering, while we wait for it to end, God is diligently working our circumstances to good and moving us towards deliverance!
