Ever Feel Small?

Jan 13, 2006Family Uncaged, Write!

I feel small.

I’m writing another parenting book, this time about how to parent in a postmodern world, and I feel terribly small. Unworthy. Incapable.

I discussed this with Patrick, thankfully.

“That’s why you’re writing the book,” he said, “because you feel small.”

I looked at him, puzzled.

“Parents today need to be encouraged to live out the redemption story in authenticity. They need to hear that message. And you can bring it to them.”

“Yeah, but I feel small.”

“Do you know how much I love you?” he asked.

I smiled.

Suddenly I didn’t feel so small. Patrick’s love grew me up.
