Got my books in the mail!

6 Comments 30 January 2012

Today I received my books in the mail. So exciting. Here’s a bit of the story.

Watching the Tree Limbs and Wishing on Dandelions were my first PUBLISHED novels, via NavPress publishing. I wrote those books primarily when we lived in France. I wanted to show the progression of healing from childhood sexual abuse through the power of a page-turning story. The first book is about Mara, a girl who is being abused in terrible ways, and God’s surprising plan to rescue and heal her. The second book looks at the girl as she turns 17 and how it affects the way she views her relationship with boys. I do have a third book in mind for the series, but it’s in the outline stage and is not completed.

The first novel I ever wrote was The Quarryman’s Wife. It’s the story of my great grandmother, essentially, but fictionalized to make a good, heartwarming story. Augusta, in her grief, detaches from the lives of her children. The story is about her journey back to wholeness and toward the hearts of her children. This book has never previously published and is most likely the only time I’ll write historical fiction.

I’m very, very pleased with CreateSpace. Wow. Very efficient, affordable, and an easy process. If you’d like to read all my posts about how to upload your own book, click here.

Awesome Mary! I’ll have to see if my wife is interested in any of those and pick up a copy or two.

Oh how fun! No matter how many times it’s happened, it’s got to be exciting every time. I’m looking forward to reading Wishing on Dandelions now that I’ve finished Watching the Tree Limbs. How is for you, going back and looking at the emotional stories years after writing them? I wonder that as I work on my first book.

It’s a lesson in humility because I see how far I’ve come as a novelist.
