Mind if I pray for you?

What dreams are festering?

What dreams are festering?

In my ongoing series about prayer, this week I’d like you to consider your dreams and hopes for today and the future. What has God breathed within you? How have you obeyed His call to walk in that dream? What obstacles have you experienced? Which ones have you overcome? What looms in front of you?

Satan would like nothing better than to thwart your dreams and have you live defeated lives. So this week in prayer, let’s focus on our God-initiated dreams. Please share your dreams in the comment section and I will pray for you. It’s my hope that others will join the chorus and pray for you too. In the meantime, here are some prayers you can pray as you navigate your dreams:

For those with writer dreams:

Lord, I pray that You would open up the Kingdom of God with the words of my friend here. Obliterate fear. Overcome worry. Be the strength of life. Write through each person reading this prayer, and change the landscape of people’s lives because of the words You initiate. Amen.

For those experiencing obstacles to their dreams:

Jesus, I pray you would bring freedom to my friend in a surprising way over the next week. Grant new insight into what holds us back. Bring true, deep, lasting renewal from the inside out. Where a desert has been, bring rain and life. Where there has been confusion, bring clarity. Where there’s been stress, usher in peace. Do something utterly new. Amen.

For those needing a new perspective on their dreams and passions:

Jesus, thank you for a new day. I pray for new things for my friend reading this email. Do something brand spanking new! Heal! Renew! Breathe life! Uplift! Refresh! I trust that You are big enough to resurrect my friend’s dreams today Amen.

That HIS dreams would be my dreams and that His ministry though my art and words would take flight… Mary, THANK YOU for praying!  I’m so thankful the LORD can do new things, making streams in the desert, even when life looks parched: http://www.wisdominwatercolor.com/category/blog/videos

Lord, give Debbie insight and skill to make art for Your glory and Your smile.

My fourteen year old daughter to come home, to write songs and sing my heart out for Jesus, preach the gospel powerfully, write books, and open a Christian counseling center for women.  Currently trying to get over the hurdle of healing my mind needs, and heal physcally, getting a degree in counseling, and volunteering at a Pregancy Support Center while pursuing my BIG dreams.  They will happen, God promised. Will they happen my way?  Hope not, God’s way is always better.

Lord, I pray Melinda’s daughter will come home. May Melinda rest in You and trust You for new things. Do great things through her, Jesus.

Giving my manuscript a final read-through. Planning to self-publish for the first time, uploading to Kindle to determine market response before doing a print edition. Following the Lord’s leading best I can. May he use it to encourage his people. Loved your prayer for those facing obstacles.

Lord, help Edythe on this self publishing journey. Be near. Help her hear from You and rest in Your timing.

I think right now my only ‘dream’ is that someday I will have the faith, hope, strength, courage, energy….something….to bother dreaming. There must be some tiny flicker left somewhere deep in the midst of this darkness or I wouldn’t be here anymore. So I will wait and I will dream of dreaming.

    • http://www.marydemuth.com Mary DeMuth

Lord, give Stephanie vigor right now, a holy unction to embrace life. Lift the darkness, please.

Thx for the encouragement & prayers Mary! I’m learning to trust God with the dreams (of writing) He’s placed in my heart.  If it’s from Him then no matter what obstacles lay before me (fear, insecurity, time issues, etc) He will give me the strength and courage to do it. I don’t have to force things to happen and that gives me peace.

Amen, Jesus, keep giving Mandy peace in her writing journey. Lead well.

Thanks, Mary, for your gift of prayer! 3 John 2.

  • Stacy

Ha! Right now my “dream” is to just get through each day. I don’t know what my God-initiated dreams are, or even if I have any. I just want a husband who isn’t massively depressed, a child who will serve God all his life (that part, at least, is so far so good), and the health to be able to enjoy the life He has given me. I want a new sense of who I am now that my son has left the nest and my “career” of being a full-time mom is over. I want my marriage renewed. I want to stop feeling old, sick and irrelevant. I want to stop feeling like the best years of my life are over and all I have to look forward to is pain, fatigue and old age. And I’d like God to give me a dream and then make it come to pass in beautiful, miraculous ways.

Lord I lift up Stacy. Help her husband see You today, to rest in You and lay his sadness at the foot of the cross. I pray her child falls in love with You. I pray for Stacy’s health, that You would invigorate her. Along with that, I pray You’d set in her a dream to do something new and Stacy-shaped for Your kingdom. Amen.

I dream of no longer being ill and of successfully raising my 5 children to be wonderful men and women of God.  I pray God allows me to be healthy and well for many more years and to live long enough to see all my children married and serving God wholeheartedly.

    • http://www.marydemuth.com Mary DeMuth

Lord, please bless Jessie with renewed health and vigor and joy and peace. Amen.

my dream is to become who God wants me to be…so whatever needs to happen to get me there…

    • http://www.marydemuth.com Mary DeMuth

Lord, do what it takes to mold Abby into a girl after Your heart. Help her lean on You when she’s uncertain. Help her abandon her dreams for Yours. Amen.

I’m dreaming of a writing/speaking ministry that glorifies God and uses the gifts he’s given me. With a husband in his last year of seminary and 2 kids under 4, I’m having a hard time waiting on God’s timing, afraid that if I don’t write right now, I’m going to lose what He’s given.

    • http://www.marydemuth.com Mary DeMuth

Lord, help Lisa rest in Your timing. Give her Your perspective on timing and help her revel in what You have for her in each moment. amen.

    • Christina Gilliland

Lisa, I too struggle with the same thing! We must be kindred spirits! I feel a call on my life in the writing speaking area but don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel
