Mind if I pray for you?

Recently a reader of this blog, Ann, wrote this to me:

Mary, would you please consider having a section on your site available for your prayers? There are a lot of believing women who are years older than you who read your writings who struggle with many age-related challenges. To name a few: health, financial, losing and/or possibly losing their homes because of economic conditions, husbands health, etc. Your prayers are so heartfelt and needed every day. Maybe you could also consider sending out by email a weekly/daily prayer.

Thank you for taking your time to read this email and also thank you for your continued faithfulness to Him and sharing your faith walk with us in email land.

Blessings to you, Ann

I love her idea! It’s one of my deep passions to pray for people. In fact, if you receive my ezine, Live Uncaged, you’ve seen my prayers for you at the top of every email.

So I’m adding a new category. It’s smack dab in the middle of my categories above and it’s called, aptly, Mind If I Pray For You?

I’ll get us started by pasting a few of my prayers. I do pray they bless you today and meet you where you are in your journey:

When you need a God-sized dream:

Jesus, Sometimes we’re so very tired of dreaming big dreams. Forgive us when our dreams are all about our egos, our fame, our kingdoms. Replace our magnanimous dreams with simple obedient dreams. Dreams where we follow You wherever You lead. Dreams that keep us grounded, loving those folks You put in our pathways today. Give us You-sized dreams, and give us the strength and joy to walk in them. We don’t want to be afraid of the next step. Amen.

When you feel small and needy:

Jesus, I pray You would hold my friend in Your capable, strong, empathetic arms. We want to know that You see us, even the small painful details we hide from everyone else. Show us today that You understand. Be strong where we are weak. Be tender where we are scarred. Be near when we feel far. Help us to realize You are gentle, even when Your followers hurt us. Help us to become a discerning people, Jesus. Amen.

When our story feels out of control:

Jesus, You are the Great I Am, the beginning of our stories, the middle and the end. Help us to trust You as the storywriter, realizing that You will never leave us as we walk this crazy earth. When our story is scary, grant us peace. When it’s mundane, help us to rejoice in normal. When we fret, lift our heads to You. When circumstances swirl out of our control, steady our minds to trust in You. Be near, near, near. We know that Your presence is what blesses us and keeps us sane. Amen.

I am in dire need of a competent and compassionate primary doctor. My former dr – who is The One– is reopening her practice. She will be accepting app 100-120 patients. I was first told she was going to accept 300 and that it would be in Jan. Then , it kept being delayed until the first week of March and supposedly “first come , first serve.” I called this morning and checked and was told now that it would be April before they would accept any patients and it was hinted that it was going to be even less than patients that then lastest info of 100-120. But I know – I really do – that God CAN open that door for me. She will be able to either find out what is wrong with me or send to the drs who can. I am so weary & anxious of not knowing what is wrong. Thank you , thank you. And thanking God this morning that the tornado warning in our county caused no harm. In Christ, Dee

    Mary,
let me first say that what you have set up on here is wonderful. Thank you for giving warm words, thoughts, and prayers to whoever asks. May God bless you on your spiritual journey as well as your lifes journey.

Mary, I’ve come here today in hopes of seeking prayer for someone not so dear or close to me; but rather someone I’ve not been very nice to over the past years. This person is my cousins girlfriend, and like i said before; we have had quite a rocky past. However, This past weekend, she and my cousin were hit by a car while they were walking across the street. He came out unharmed, but she wasn’t so lucky. The doctors were sure she wasn’t going to make it through the night but by the grace of God has managed to survive the week. Because of the termendous pain she is in, they had to put her in an induced comma; The worst of it is over, or so we thought until the time came for her to wake up. She is unresponsive and has more internal damage then origanaly thought. I ask that you keep her in your prayers; ask God to heal her, to give her body, mind and spirit the strength it needs to pull through this ordeal and to help her, her family and my cousin get past this; also ask God that if this is part of his devine plan, if he is going to call her home, to ease my cousins and her families heart ache. To bring them peace.
Im Not sure what else i can ask you to pray for, but any warm thoughts, words or prayers are very welcomed. Thank you for taking the time to create a place for prayers. Thank you for giving me the time to ask this of you. I will be sure to keep you, and anyone else who is in need of prayer on my heart and ask God to bless you all.

Thank You so, so very much!

Lord, I lift up this cousin to you, who is in deep bodily distress. If it be Your will, would you heal her? Help folks reconcile with her too. You are big. Please show up in this situation.

Mary, I love this idea.  My husband and I have a prayer list we pray each morning.  It includes friends, family members, people we don’t even know.  But I’ve never really thought I’d need to ask you to pray for us, but you have such a beautiful way of saying what’s needing to be said.

Husband (74) and I (65) are both struggling with painful back issues.  For me, it is an ongoing chronic condition which requires spinal fusion, first time 8 years ago and now I need to have more fused.  Getting scheduled with the surgeon is the current delay.  For my sweet man, it’s his first time to suffer as he has been suffering for the past couple of months.  So far no one has given us a diagnosis despite multiple tests and physical therapy.  Frustrating to say the least.  This pain keeps us both from standing long periods of time and so we don’t get much accomplished around home even though we have one grown son and his wife who willingly do what we ask.  Could you please pray that we both move closer to freedom from this pain, for answers to Bob’s problem, and for me to have patience until I can get scheduled with the surgeon and put surgery behind me?  I am so grateful to have connected with you, your books and your prayers.

    Blessings on all you do!

Lord, please alleviate Sherrey and her husband’s back issues. Ouch! Be near them as they heal.

I desperately needed several of these prayers today as I am grieving loss and writing about it.  You are blessing me on both fronts, and I am thankful for your faithfulness.

A few months ago I started wearing a pin that says “How may I pray for you?” I’ve had some beautiful experiences as a result. People open up to me and share, asking for prayer.  And I do pray for these people. And when i see them again later, I tell them I’m still praying for them.
I ordered a load of these pins for folks at our church and my heart sings everytime I see someone wearing one. :D
It’s a wonderful way of witnessing.
