Here’s how we use them: Each child takes a turn drawing a question (one per night). He/she reads the question and answers it, then we all answer after. So, one question, five answers. I’m sure they could be used many different ways. Mine are cut up and placed in a lidded box on our dining room table.

But, hey, five bucks is a lot of money this time of year, isn’t it? Why not get them for free! I’ll give away five free sets (in PDF form) to the most creative commenters who come up with the most interesting table conversation question. So put those thinking hats on and create a question that’ll stun and amuse me. (Example: If you could be a giant insect capable of taking over the world, what would you be? And what would you do once you took over the world? Make peace? Give away food?)

Here are some ideas:

How much money would it take to make you happy? (10 million or just enough to buy a small house with a garden).

When you close your eyes, what do you see when I say the words: happiness, sorrow, freedom, isolation, life, and love. Describe each picture in turn (eg: sorrow for me is missing my Nana who passed away 4 years ago and so is represented by the oddly positive image of me sitting in her small apartment in Glasgow, drinkinga cup of milky tea, and talking about the family members represented in the photographs that filled her flat).

At the beginning of the day, you can ask someone to describe ‘their perfect day’ and then see if you can match the day ahead to that image of perfection!

If you could choose another name for yourself what would it be? (We called the dog Indiana!) I mention this quote from Indiana Jones because I always wanted to be called Fiona, but my folks called the cat Fiona and me Robyn!

So, there you go – some questions to tickle your brains (and maybe for me to win those 150 Qs… nudge nudge!)

And, why do I want them, mary? Because I’ve been using them with my trainees here in Franec – they’re great for creating conversation and so really help me as I work on their English training!
