An IHAA Day

8 Comments 01 November 2005

So, yeah. I woke up this morning happy that today was the day Patrick would be home. I’d cleaned and cleaned. I’d even prepared a crockpot meal (Moroccan chicken with apricots) and an apple pie (not sure how North African chicken and North American apple pie mix, but hey, I’ve been tired. My brain isn’t thinking so well) so that when we came home from the airport, the dinner would be made and we could relax and enjoy our evening.

Then I turned on the computer.

He won’t be here until THURSDAY!!! As in TWO days from now.

NOOOOOOO, I yelled at my computer.

YEEESSSSSS, it yelled back.

There was a poopy storm in Dallas that delayed Patrick’s departure four hours. Which made him miss his connection in NY. And the first they could fly him out was Wednesday night, which got him here Thursday evening.

Julia has cried off and on today. Aidan seems a bit somber. When I told Sophie, she said, “It’s not faaaaiiiiirrr.”

So, I’m having an IHAA day. I-HATE-AMERICAN-AIRLINES day. Maybe an AA search engine will pick up my inflammatory post and offer Patrick passage on a Lear jet. Ha!

So, Patrick is staying in an airport hotel in NY. The airlines have lost both bags. I’m sure there will be some redemption in all this, but right now I’m just plain sad and crabby. Thankfully, we have good friends in NY, so Patrick will have people to be with.

But I want him to be with US!!! Two weeks is too long to be apart.

Sigh.

Please pray he comes home without a hitch.

Warmly,
Relevantgirl

I agree, two weeks is WAY too long…12 days just about caps the length limit. And then two more days added???? Yikes, glad you made it through (as I see from further post titles). I can, again, totally identify with the stress of being in France with children, while husband is back in USA for 12 days…but the unexpected extra two is something I hope I won’t experience anytime soon!

I am sooo sorry, Mary . . . for all of you. Some disappointments hit soft, but this one hit hard – and should have :) I’m thankful for Jeanne’s comments – those were not my first thoughts for you :) I love “Pollyanna Poker!” So here’s my Positive, Pollyanna Poker Card: What a gift and a blessing to be in a marriage where two extra days before being reunited absolutely and totally crush you! That’s how it should be :) Experiencing this through you is a gift to me . . . in many ways :) Thank you, Ann

Yeah. I hate it when American Airlines sends a poopy storm to Dallas. The nerve! In happier news, I loved your November Newsletter, ma petit chou. Sassy, snappy, and fun. You make me smile. And now it’s time to play Pollyanna Poker. Who can come up with the most positive cards on this scenario? Let’s see. Maybe someone in the NY hotel needs to see Jesus in Patrick today. Or maybe God–who tends to be omniscient–intervened to prevent something much harder to bear than two extra days apart. Or maybe someone needs to spend time before the throne in intercession–not only for you and your frustrations–but for the increasing of his own faith. No matter what or why, these are the cards you’ve been dealt today. Play them wisely. And then I’d suggest a little apple pie, a la mode. God is still reigning. All is well and will be well. I love you.
